Information About IPL Laser

WHAT IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL WITH IPL?

Nowadays, millions of people are complaining about hairs on their faces and some parts of their bodies. Intense hairiness is seen on 15% of women especially between the ages of 18-25. Besides, the number of men complaining about their body hairs has been increasing day by day. Until today, methods for getting rid of unwanted hair such as waxing, shaving, pulling and depilatories offer only a temporary comfort. So they are not exact solutions. Electrolysis, which is colloquially known as needle epilation, is a time-wasting, difficult, exhausting and impractical method. It has side effects like infection and scars when performed in improper environments. IPL Laser systems has been used for years with cosmetic purposes like treatment of thin capillary vessels on face and legs, removal of age spots and skin rejuvenation. Epilation methods has now given their places to more comfortable and practical laser (IPL) hair removal which is too strong to compare with other methods in terms of results.

WHY MORE THAN ONE SESSION IS NECESSARY?

Our body hairs have 3 different phases: growing, discontinuation and shedding. Laser (IPL) application generally requires more than one session in order to find the growing phase which is the period when hairs are the most responsive to laser. Sometimes only one session gives satisfactory results. However, 4-6 sessions are generally sufficient. As growing phases of hair are at different rates on different parts of body and as receptors on face responsive to hormones are more sensitive, face is more resistant requiring 8-10 sessions. Session intervals are 4-6 weeks.

IS IPL APPLIED DURING SUMMER MONTHS?

There is a fallacy that laser epilation cannot be applied during summer period. As long as proper devices are used and suitable sun protection products are applied after hair removal, laser during summer is convenient (On condition that the skin is protected from sun 10 days before and 10 days after application). However, it is not convenient to go into tanning booth or sunbathe before hair removal as it can reduce the effect of laser (IPL) on dark-skinned people. If they consider appropriate, physicians may give whitening creams to dark-skinned people in order to obtain better results after laser (IPL) hair removal.

HOW LONG DOES EACH APPLICATION TAKE?

Application period depends on width of treatment area, headpiece size and speed of the device. For example, a complete leg is approximately 4500 cm2. If you use CROSS MV-10, headpiece size is 9 cm2. That means 500 pulses. As there are 2 seconds between each shot, your total period of shots is 1000 seconds (17 minutes). However, you need to make 1300 shots through a device with a headpiece of 3.5 cm2. Shot interval of this device is 3 seconds and total period is 3900 seconds (65 minutes).

ARE IPL LASER APPLICATION SESSIONS COSTLY?

Yes. Although it is not realized in the beginning, it is costly depending on the device that you use. Therefore we need to calculate the cost well.

50.000 shots are guaranteed with one headpiece of CROSS MV-10. That means 50.000 x 9 cm2= 450.000 cm2 shooting area. One headpiece costs 900 € (1.900 TL). According to this calculation, cost of one shot is 1.900 TL/50.000 shots= 0,038 TL.

Cost of one session with our device for a complete leg is 500 shots x 0,038 TL= 19.00 TL.

WHICH DOCUMENT IS NECESSARY FOR DEVICE IN ORDER TO GET LICENSE FOR IPL LASER APPLICATION?

According to new administration:

1.       CE certificate of your device should be tested in compliance with LVD 73/23 EEC standard,

2.       Your device should be tested as a beauty device, not as a medical device and this should be noted in CE certificate/EMC test report,

3.       Brand and model number of the device should be noted in CE certificate.

It is very significant for these 3 items written above to be present in CE certificate.

Remember that each device over 220 Volt has LVD 73/23 EEC test report. The device should be stated as a Beauty Device instead of a Medical Device in this test report.

HOW UNWANTED HAIR IS REMOVED WITH IPL LASER AND OTHER LASER SYSTEMS?

Light at certain wavelength (600 nm/1200 nm) from IPL and other laser systems is retained by a substance called melanin in hair roots. Thereby, heat of hair root increases and is destroyed by burning. A hair does not grow from this hair root again. 30% of hair roots are affected in this way at every IPL or laser hair removal applications. That’s why hair removal treatment takes a few sessions.

The pain differs depending on the device. A mild pain and burning sensation may occur during application with CROSS MV-10 as it has cooling system. Severity of this pain is like a flip of rubber band.

DO IPL SYSTEMS HAVE OTHER APPLICATION AREAS EXCEPT FOR HAIR REMOVAL?

Yes. IPL laser systems are used for treatment of fine face wrinkles, skin tightening and rejuvenation, removal of thin veins on body and spot treatment.

ON WHICH CONDITIONS IPL LASER SHOULD NOT BE APPLIED?

People who used Roaccutane within the last 6 months should wait for the period to end. If you are pregnant, we recommend the treatment to start after birth.

ARE THE RESULTS OF IPL LASER TREATMENT PERMANENT?

Results of hair removal application through IPL systems are 80-90% permanent. Body hairs may sparsely grow on 10-20% of patients after a while when the treatment ends. These new hairs may also require 1-2 sessions of application. In addition, using hormonal disorder medicines irregularly may also cause growing of new hair.

HOW ADVANTAGEOUS IS IPL LASER HAIR REMOVAL OVER OTHER LASERS?

There are some differences between laser systems which are in favor of IPL laser system. In IPL laser system, it is possible to adjust the light and the time according to thickness, density and color of hairs, color and condition of the skin and the treatment area. None of the laser system used for epilation has this flexible treatment approach. As treatment headpieces in IPL laser system are much larger than other laser epilation headpieces, treatment process significantly shortens. Treatment cost also reduces by this means. Another difference between IPL laser system and other laser systems is the severity of pain during treatment. People notably feel pain during hair removal with diode lasers. Even sometimes it is necessary to anaesthetize the skin by using specific creams. However, you feel almost no pain with IPL laser unit thanks to its special cooling system (a special 0° cooling system mounted on contact continuous cooling headpiece). Moreover, it is easily tolerated due to shorter treatment process as mentioned before.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN AFTER APPLICATION?

IPL laser hair removal application generally doesn’t affect your daily life and activities. For example, you can receive your treatment during lunch break, then continue your daily life with no or slight visible effect. Right after the treatment, you may feel mild heating or tingling. This is a normal sensation which generally disappears in 1-2 hours. You can put on make-up if your skin doesn’t feel sensitive. Further, make-up protects the skin from harmful effects of sun. It is important to treat the skin more sensitive during a few days following the treatment. You should avoid taking extremely hot shower, using fiber bath or hair dryer. Excessive exercises for two days should also be avoided as over-sweating may cause redness. We recommend you to use oil-free sun protectors with high factor (at least 30 SPF).

IS IPL LASER HAIR REMOVAL PERMANENT?

Permanence of hair removal applications is one of the most important agenda items of cosmetics sector. Years of studies and researches in this field have been oriented towards prolonging the period after epilation. Unfortunately, results in terms of permanence vary from person to person even in the most developed hair removal method IPL laser and other laser systems. Long-term epilation (at least 2 years) may not be ensured at every case. Success of epilation varies from person to person just as the result differs from area to area on the same person. 10% of cases, on the other hand, scarcely respond to the treatment with IPL laser system/other laser systems. Even though IPL laser system/other laser systems are the most long-lasting epilation nowadays, patients should be aware of the possibility of negative results without having great expectations.

HOW DOES IPL LASER’S MECHANISM OF ACTION WORK?

Laser light removes hairs by seeing and destroying the substance called melanin that gives the color of hairs. In addition to this, IPL laser systems offer more effective and comprehensive epilation by losing capillaries that feed hairs.

However, hairs should be at growing phase for a complete impact. In order to catch the growing phase of hairs, session intervals shouldn’t exceed 6 weeks.

WHAT IS THE SUPERIORITY OF IPL SYSTEM?

IPL system gives extremely good results on thick and dark hairs. Moreover, RF IPL for fine and light hairs is much more successful than other laser systems. The fact that IPL device is adjustable according to skin and hair condition of a person reduces side effects like redness and incrustation to a great extent. There is scarcely no burning sensation during application. Thanks to cooling headpiece inclusive of CROSS MV-10 system, hairs are effectively removed and the skin doesn’t get damaged.

WHEN WILL I GET RID OF MY UNWANTED HAIR?

You will start to get rid of your hair when you start the treatment. As all of your hairs are not in the same growing phase and as laser hair removal is more effective on growing hairs, sessions should be repeated at intervals of 3-6 weeks. Apparent decrease of hair is observed especially after the 2nd session. Number of sessions varies from person to person and depending on the treatment area. 3-6 sessions are necessary for desired results.

IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL PERMANENT?

Although laser hair removal is the most permanent epilation method so far, it doesn’t mean that your hairs will not grow again for the rest of your life. Generally, epilation renewal sessions called Touch Up may be applied to weak and sparse hairs after 3-6 sessions are completed.

WHAT WILL I ENCOUNTER AFTER APPLICATION?

A mild redness may occur but it’s temporary. Scarcely, tiny incrustations may occur in the following days. They also disappear in a short time by using proper moisturizer. As lifeless hairs owing to epilation shed in 3-20 days, they may be visible for a while. However, you receive a hairless and a smooth skin after shedding.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING SESSIONS?

After options are set suitable for your skin and hair conditions, hairs on treatment area are shortened, marked and a protective gel is used if wanted. Treatment starts after wearing protective glasses. The area is cleansed after treatment and sun protector is applied lastly.

SUN!

You should take care of your skin by protecting it as much as possible for 2-3 days after laser hair removal. Sun protectors can be used for this purpose. Treatments can be applied to tanned skins but in order to prevent possible redness, epilation should be postponed until the skin tone becomes normal.

SPOT TREATMENT WITH LASER

IPL laser systems created a revolution in spot treatment. IPL device safely removes spots by targeting and destroying melanin, the substance causing spots. Brown spots and freckles – which generally don’t respond to other treatments – can be removed at 1-2 sessions. The only requirement along with the application is using sun protectors. This treatment can be successfully performed on every skin type on condition that it is applied by a specialist.

FACE REJUVENATION WITH LASER

Thanks to adjustable wavelengths, IPL laser system reduces wrinkles and general aging signs of skin by increasing collagen which is the supportive tissue of the skin. This system is the first option of face rejuvenation treatments in the world by reason of not causing any redness, incrustation, etc. Moreover, it is preferred because it shows its effect in natural ways, it doesn’t contain any injection or foreign matters and it is economic. The application takes 5-10 minutes at intervals of 3 weeks. At the end of 6-8 sessions wrinkles reduce, the skin becomes refined and rejuvenated.
